# Don't Attack Iraq

In the wake of Alastair Campbells‘ dodgy dossiers and on the brink of another war in the Persian Gulf, the anti war protest movement mobilised globally culminating in a coordinated day of protests in more than 600 cities across the world on 15th February 2003.

It has been described as the “[the largest protest event in human history”](https://web.archive.org/web/20160215153519/http://uahost.uantwerpen.be/m2p/publications/1267098151.pdf#page=13) with estimates varying between 8 to 30 million participants.

In London the figures given on the day range from 650,000 to a million or more. However many people actually attended is almost irrelevant as it seems uncontested that it was (and possibly remains) the largest ever political demonstration in the city’s history.

I took these photos in London with a pocket film camera before I invested in a digital camera, the negatives are now long lost to time.
